SKIDZ, the NewYork based apparel company founded by Rick Fayer in 1987, has teamed up with Mickey Hart, renowned drummer and percussionist of the Grateful Dead, Planet Drum and Dead & Company to create a limited-edition apparel and accessory collection. Mickey Hart maybe best known for his musical talents, but he is also an incredible painter. This collection showcases Mickey’s paintings of psychopomps, colorful and glowing spiritual guides,layered on top of his painting of a galaxy. SKIDZ was able to take this artwork and create fabric using an innovative digital printing method to make SKIDZ original one-size pants andreversible bucket hat. The same artwork was used to create a unique glow-in-the-dark Zippo lighter. Mickey has been a longtime fan of SKIDZ. Over the last few years,he can be seen on and off stage wearing SKIDZ apparel.

“One-day they appeared, and I put them on. One thing I like iscomfort and SKIDZ are definitely comfortable. So, Rick and I started talking and through some wild conversations, the psychopomps have entered a new dimension, fashion”. This collaboration has been a true trifecta of art, music and fashion.

Rick has been a “deadhead” since his first show on May 3rd, 1977. “It’s been anamazing adventure to collaborate with someone I have always admired as a musician. I am honored. Mickey’s art lends itself so well with the SKIDZ aesthetic. And after getting to know Mickey, we are aligned in our forever quest for fun, creation, inclusion and levitation”. On the strength of that work, Hart is a two-time Grammy Award winner, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,and named to Rolling Stone’s100 Greatest Drummers of All Time. Mickey Hart is also an accomplished writer, energetic painter, restless explorer, and an acclaimed expert on the history and mythologyof drums.
