‘Twas the Night Before Christmas – Deadhead Style

Enjoy our annual holiday playlist!

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the land,
The rhythms of The Other One played by the band.
Stockings were hung by the chimney with flair,
In hopes that a Box of Rain soon would be there.

With Eyes of the World, we gazed to the skies,
While Ripple brought tears to the merriest eyes.
A Scarlet Begonias Into Fire On The Mountain was neat,
Like sugar-plums twirling down Shakedown Street.

When out on the lawn, there arose such a sound,
We ran to the rail where the magic was found.
With a flash of moonlight on the fresh-fallen snow,
We revisit Duke 1978 for a great Peggy-O.

The stockings were filled, the crowd sang with delight,
So Many Roads echoed into the night.
In DC 89, the jams were so sweet,
Sugaree soothed all, a Deadhead’s retreat.

Onward to Winterland, wherever he goes,
St. Stephen would play, and wipe out any woes.
At Shoreline in Mountain View, for the very first show,
A smokin China Cat / Rider  kept us all in the flow.

From Warlocks to The Grateful Dead and now Dead & Co,
On this bus we all travel, together we go.
Through years and decades, the music inspires,
Uncle John’s Band still lights up our fires.

So here’s to the Dead, to the songs and the jams,
An Althea from 1989 leaves us all feeling grand.
The Music Never Stopped, so let’s sing with delight:
“Happy holidays to all, and to all a Good Night!”
